“Caring For Each Other”

Our Community Hunger Center’s 2017 Annual Report

Our Community Hunger Center’s mission is to provide emergency food assistance, personal hygiene items, paper products, household supplies, and clothing to residents living in Northern Summit, Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake, and Portage Counties.

Our main distribution center and administrative offices are located just off the Square in Twinsburg.  From this location we serve those in need living in Twinsburg, Twinsburg Township, Solon, Bentleyville, Reminderville, Aurora, Chagrin Falls, Glenwillow, Oakwood Village, Bedford, Bedford Heights, Walton Hills, Northfield, Northfield Center, Sagamore Hills, Macedonia, Hudson, Boston Heights, Peninsula, Streetsboro, and Stow.

We also maintain a food pantry in the Church of the Good Shepherd located at 23599 Cedar Rd., Lyndhurst.  Good Shepherd provides a community meal the last Saturday of each month after which we distribute a 7-day supply of food to those who qualify. This outreach serves those living in Lyndhurst, Beachwood, Mayfield Heights, Cleveland Heights, University Heights, Shaker Heights, Pepper Pike, Gates Mills, South Euclid, Mayfield Village, Highland Heights, and Chesterland.

In just our third full year of operations we continue to experience remarkable growth.

According to the Akron-Canton Foodbank, in 2017, we served 17348 people, an average of 1446 people a month…a 37.63% increase over 2016 and nearly twice the number we were serving just 2 short years ago..

Our Community Hunger Center is a “Choice Pantry” of the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank.

Being a “Choice Pantry” means we allow our recipients to choose the items they wish to take home with them rather than require that the recipients take home allotments that are prepacked.  They are able to supplement the non-perishable food with organic fruit and vegetables, meat, chicken, bread, baked goods, pizza, soup, paper products, personal care items, and household supplies.

Our Community Hunger Center is the only Twinsburg-based food pantry that is available daily to help our neighbors in need.  We are also the only area-food pantry that provides a 7-day supply of food each month.  Most other pantries provide a monthly allotment 1-3 day supply of food.  And,  we are the only area-food pantry willing to deliver food to those whom are homebound.
